Near Nerul Railway Station, there was a scrap shop operating out of a hut beside a public bridge. Everyone believed that only scrap materials were being sold there. However, no one even suspected that a serious and illegal activity was taking place inside. Under the cover of this scrap business, narcotic substances were being openly sold.

The police received confidential information regarding this illegal operation. Acting on this tip-off, a team consisting of four police officers and 15 male and female police personnel conducted a raid at around 12:30 PM with the assistance of the Nerul Police Station. During the raid, a large quantity of narcotic substances was found, following which the individuals involved were taken into custody.

Following the seizure, the accused were questioned, and further investigation revealed that the gang had been using the scrap shop as a front to distribute drugs in the surrounding areas. The seized narcotics were taken into custody, and a case has been registered against the accused under relevant sections of the NDPS Act.

The Anti-Narcotics Cell is now probing the source of the drugs and checking whether the racket has links to a larger network operating in Navi Mumbai and nearby regions. Police officials have stated that more arrests are likely as the investigation progresses.

This action by the ANC has sent a strong message to drug peddlers operating under the cover of small businesses and has raised serious concerns about illegal activities being carried out in crowded public areas.
